Notice on Holding the Children and Adolescent Development and the Second International Symposium on Prevention and Intervention of School Bullying (the second round)

Greetings！

Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the country has paid more and more attention to the physical and mental health of children and adolescents, and school bullying has become one of the important issues affecting the development of children and adolescents. School bullying is a common bad behavior among primary and secondary school students, which has many negative effects and harms on individual development. In recent years, the issue of bullying on campus has attracted the great attention of the government and all sectors of society. The Ministry of Education and other departments have successively issued the Guiding Opinions of the Ministry of Education and other nine departments on the prevention of bullying and violence among primary and secondary school students, the Comprehensive Governance Scheme for Strengthening Bullying in Primary and Secondary Schools aimed at establishing a long-term mechanism for bullying prevention and intervention in China, effectively curbing the occurrence of bullying and promoting the healthy development of children and adolescents.

In order to effectively promote the research and prevention of bullying in Chinese campus, the Children and Adolescent Development and the Second International Symposium on Prevention and Intervention of School Bullying will jointly hosted by Professional Committee of School Bullying and Violence of Chinese Psychological Society, Shandong Psychological Association, School of Psychology of Shandong Normal University and School Bullying Research Center, Shandong Normal University. Top international experts in school bullying research and prevention and interventions, and well-known domestic experts will be invited to make keynote reports, and exchange academic research and practical achievements in the field of school bullying.

In order to reduce the gathering risk and ensure the quality of the meeting, after the research and coordination of the organizing committee, the organizing committee decided to postpone the Second International Symposium on Prevention and Intervention of School Bullying and training sessions originally scheduled to be held at Shandong Normal University from 21 October to 25 October, 2020 to 25 November to 29 November, 2020. The time for abstract submission and registration for the meeting will be postponed accordingly to 10 November, 2020, and the meeting venue and registration method will remain unchanged.

The domestic and foreign bullying research experts who have been invited to attend the academic conference are:

Professor Christina Salmivalli, University of Turku, Finland (Finnish National Science Award winner; head of KiVa, the world's most acclaimed anti-bullying project).

Professor René Veenstra, University of Groningen, Netherlands (Authoritative expert on the research of school bullying; host of the Dutch KiVa anti-bullying project)

Professor Tina Malti, University of Toronto, CA (Authoritative expert on the research of school bullying; President-elect of the International Society for the Study of Behavioral Development).

Professor Zhang Wenxin, Shandong Normal University, China (Pioneer and leader of bullying prevention and intervention work; chief scientist of the key project of the faculty of philosophy and social of the ministry of education, Research and Prevention of School Bullying Countermeasures in Primary and Secondary Schools).

Professor Zhou Zongkui, Central China Normal University, China (Authoritative expert on the research of school bullying; member of the Steering Committee of the Mental Health Education Experts of the Ministry of Education）.

Professor Lei Li, Renmin University of China, China (Authoritative expert on the research of network bullying; deputy director of Development Psychology Branch of Chinese Psychological Society).

The training session and workshop on prevention and intervention of school bullying will be held before the academic conference. (limited to 40 people). The training will focus on school bullying prevention and intervention practices and is committed to improving the practical skills of the participants in bullying prevention. The specific schedule of the training meeting and workshop is shown in Appendix III.

We sincerely invite experts and scholars, education managers and teachers working in the field of practice on school bullying research and interruption join our discussion and communication. We also invite units tending to implement interruption on school bullying entrust excellent teachers to this training.

I Abstract Collection

This international academic conference is intended to collect abstracts from participants.

1. Topic range of abstract:

2. Research on the development of children and adolescents.

3. Influencing factors and mechanisms, prevention and intervention practices of school bullying.

4. Abstract requirement: the abstract of the paper is no more than 500 words. The content includes: the title of the article, the author, the unit, 3-5 keywords and abstract in Chinese and English (see attachment for template).

5. Participants can exchange and communicate by oral presentation.

   II Master and PhD Forum of Developmental Psychology

6. The conference opened "Academic Forum for PhD Students in Developmental Psychology" and "Academic Forum for Master Students in Developmental Psychology".

7. The graduate students participating in the master-doctoral forum shall submit research papers or research designs as the first author, and the research direction is the development of children and adolescents. The conference selects based on the submitted papers or research design.

8. The conference will select outstanding research reports and give certain awards to those who are shortlisted for academic forums for doctoral students and academic forums for master students.

11. Expense standard

    Participation fee for international academic conferences on school bullying prevention and intervention: free of charge, and necessary participation materials should be provided.

    Training fee of prevention and intervention of school bullying: 900 yuan/person (including training fee, conference fee, data printing fee, certificate fee, no meal fee); enrolled student with student ID card: 450 yuan/person. The participation fee for the psychodrama workshop (workshop 1) on prevention and intervention of school bullying is 300 yuan/person. The participation fee for the workshop (workshop 2) on prevention and intervention of school bullying is 300 yuan/person. Due to the epidemic, people in low-risk areas are restricted to register. Appendix II: Introduction of Participating Experts

Professor Peter Smith

Peter Smith, former director of the School and Family Studies Center at Goldsmiths College, University of London (1998-2011), is now an emeritus professor at the school and a member of the British Academy of Social Sciences.Professor Smith has long been engaged in the East-West cross-cultural comparative study of school bullying and the prevention and intervention of school bullying. The Sheffield School Bullying Intervention Project (1991-1993) he led was one of the most successful school bullying prevention and intervention projects in the world. The Anti-Bullying Toolkit developed based on the Sheffield Project was promoted and used in 19,000 schools in the UK. From 2008 to 2012, Professor Smith served as the chairman of the European Scientific and Technological Network Bullying Action Cooperation Organization and led the investigation and research of network bullying in Europe. At present, Professor Smith has published more than 500 articles and 5 academic monographs in top international academic journals such as Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry、Child Development. In 2015, Professor Smith was awarded the William Thierry Preyer Award by the European Society for Developmental Psychology for his outstanding research work in the field of human development. (The highest award in European developmental psychology).

Professor Christina Salmivalli

Christina Salmivalli, professor at the University of Turku, winner of the Finnish National Science Award, and vice chairman of the Finnish Policy Research Council, is currently a chair professor at Shandong Normal University. Christina Salmivalli has been engaged in basic research on school bullying and its prevention and intervention work for 25 years, and has published more than 100 articles in top international academic journals such as Child Development、Developmental Psychology、Journal of Abnormal Child Psychology、Journal of Youth and Adolescence. The KiVa anti-bullying intervention project led by Professor Salmivalli enjoys a high reputation all over the world due to its solid theoretical foundation and good intervention effects. The project is implemented in more than 90% of comprehensive primary and secondary schools in Finland, and has been promoted in more than 20 countries including the Netherlands, Ireland, Spain, the United States, New Zealand, and Chile.

Professor Rene Veenstra

Rene Veenstra is a professor at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. He is mainly engaged in research on school bullying and peer relationship networks.Since 2000, he has been engaged in the research of youth peer relationships and social behavior, presided over and participated in large-scale tracking projects such as TRAILS in the Netherlands. He has published nearly 200 articles in international authoritative journals such as Aggressive Behavior, Child Development and Social Networks, and has served as the consulting editor of top international journals such as Journal of Research on Youth and Adolescence Development. Professor Veenstra has also achieved outstanding results in the field of school bullying intervention. Since 2013, he has led the implementation and evaluation of the Dutch KiVa anti-bullying project. The project organically combined the technology of social network analysis with anti-school bullying work, reducing the incidence of school bullying in the Netherlands by 50%. In 2015, Professor Veenstra was nominated for the 2015 Dutch Huibregtsen Award for his research results in the field of school bullying. Professor Tina Malti

Tina Malti, professor at the University of Toronto, director of the Socio-Emotional Development and Intervention Laboratory, founder of the Child Development, Mental Health and Policy Center at the University of Toronto, and a member of the American Psychological Association, she also serves as the president-elect of the International Society for Behavioral Development Research and the associate editor of the international authoritative journal Child Development. She is mainly engaged in the research of aggressive behavior and its prevention and intervention. She has published more than 200 papers in top international journals such as Child development, Journal of Clinical Child & Adolescent Psychology, Developmental Psychology, etc. In the field of prevention and intervention of aggressive behavior and related behaviors, the social and emotional intervention project developed by Tina Malti has been implemented in Canada and many European countries, and has achieved good intervention results. Tina Malti has won awards from the Canadian Health Research Center, Youth Research Association, International Association for Attack Research and other organizations.

Professor Wenxin Zhang

WenxinZhang, second-level professor of Shandong Normal University, deputy secretary of the party committee, vice chairman of Shandong Social Science Federation (not stationed), concurrently serving as a member of the Teaching Steering Committee (Psychology) of Higher Education Ministry of Education (2018-2022), Member of the Mental Health Education Expert Committee of Elementary and Secondary Schools of the Ministry of Education, and editorial board member of Journal of Youth and Adolescence. He has long been engaged in developmental psychology research. His key research areas include the development of school bullying and aggression, depression and other social behaviors and problem behaviors of children and adolescents, family parenting, peer relationships and positive development of children and adolescents, and developmental behavior genetics. He has published more than 120 articles in authoritative psychology journals at home and abroad and 5 academic monographs such as Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry、Child Development、Journal of Abnormal Child Psychology、Journal of Youth and Adolescence, and the Journal of Psychology. Since the late 1990s, Professor Wenxin Zhang has taken the lead in conducting research and intervention on school bullying in China, leading domestic bullying research for more than 20 years. In 2017, he led the Ministry of Education's Philosophy and Social Science Research Major Project Research on the Prevention and Management of School Bullying Countermeasures in Primary and Secondary Schools, and is committed to the prevention and intervention of school bullying in China.

Professor Zongkui Zhou

Zongkui Zhou, professor of Central China Normal University, doctoral supervisor, dean of graduate school, concurrently member of the Mental Health Education Expert Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education,Member of the National Committee for the Guidance of Postgraduate Education for Professional Degrees in Applied Psychology, Standing Director of the Chinese Psychological Society, and Vice Chairman of the School Educational Psychology Branch of the Chinese Education Association. Professor Zongkui Zhou has long been engaged in the research of children and adolescents' social communication, peer relationships, and adolescents' online psychology and behavior. He has published more than 100 articles in domestic and foreign authoritative journals such as Journal of Affective Disorders、Journal of Youth and Adolescence、Personality and Individual Differences、Computers in Human Behavior, and Psychology Journal, and presided over more than 10 national-level topics.In recent years, Professor Zongkui Zhou has conducted a large number of investigations and studies on Internet behaviors of network bullying, and has achieved fruitful research results. His related research results won the third prize of the 7th University Scientific Research Outstanding Achievement Award (2015).

Professor Li Lei

Li Lei, Professor of Renmin University of China, doctoral supervisor, director of the Chinese Psychological Society, deputy director of the Developmental Psychology Branch of the Chinese Psychological Society, director of the School Psychology Branch, executive director and deputy secretary-general of the Beijing Psychological Society, and executive director of the Beijing Social Psychology Society.In recent years, Professor Li Lei has devoted himself to the research work of "Internet and Youth Development", with special emphasis on the influencing factors and mechanism of cyber bullying. He has published more than 90 research results related to Internet psychology in Personality and Individual Differences、Child Abuse & Neglect、 Child Psychiatry & Human Development, and the Journal of Psychology. He has published about 100 books and textbooks at home and abroad. His works and papers have won the Beijing Philosophy and Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award, China Book Award, National Book Award and other awards.
